OWC Mercury Pro 12x External Blu-ray Recorder

Other World Computing (OWC) introduces Mercury Pro 12x Blu-ray burner, which is based on Pioneer BDR-205 writer. Based on Oxford 934DSB chipset, the Mercury Pro 12x offers four interfaces, including two FireWire 800 ports, a FireWire 400, an eSATA and a USB 2.0.

The burner writes single layer and double layer BD-R at up to 12x and BD-RE at 2x. It burns also DVD+/-R at up to 16X, DVD-RAM at 5x and CD-R/RW at 40x. It gets 8MB of buffer memory.

OWC Mercury On-The-Go (320GB)

The OWC Mercury On-The-Go ($179.99 direct) is a Mac compatible hard drive which can also be used with a Windows PC after a little reformatting is done. The main attraction of the device is that you don’t need any power adapter to charge it. Instead it takes its power via the USB port or FireWire ports of your Mac or PC. The hard drive spins at 7200rpm and provides fast performance with Time Machine, built into Mac OS 10.5. The drive offers a number of utilities which are includes with it and on an included CD.
