Canon EOS Rebel T2i / 550D DSLR Camera

Posted by git On March - 7 - 2010

Canon introduces the EOS 550D (aka EOS Kiss X4 in Japan and EOS Rebel T2i in the US) Digital DSLR camera as the follow-up to the EOS 500D. As Canon’s latest entry-level DSLR, the 550D sports a 18 Megapixel APS-C CMOS image sensor, DIGIC 4 image processor and ISO 100-6400 (expandable to 12,800).

The Canon 550D features also a 63-zone Dual Layer Metering System, 3.7 fps shooting, and +/-5 EV exposure compensation range. It is able to record Full HD 1080p video at 30fps and offers HDMI output. Also included is the Movie Crop mode, where the user can achieve 7x magnification when shooting SD video for a significantly increased “telephoto” effect.

The Canon EOS 550D comes with a 3-inch LCD display and supports SD/SDHC and SDXC cards. It is compatible with Eye-Fi.

Canon PowerShot SD940 IS

Posted by git On March - 5 - 2010

The Canon PowerShot SD940 IS  might look familiar to you, especially if you’ve seen the Canon PowerShot SD780 IS. Both models have an eye-catching design–including a lens casing that’s the same color as the camera’s body–and both are available in a range of colors.

The similarities between the two cameras go beyond aesthetics. Both offer 12-megapixel image resolution, effective optical stabilization, 720p high-def movie capture, an HDMI-out port, the same fun Color Accent scene mode , and very good image quality for a pocketable camera.

Canon Pixma MP560

Posted by git On February - 2 - 2010

The Canon Pixma MP560 Wireless Photo All-in-One color inkjet multifunction printer is priced to appeal to students and home users . Compared with the like-priced Epson Stylus NX515 and HP Photosmart Plus, it offers better paper handling and ink costs–but slower performance. In our tests, the unit’s performance was generally middling, but sometimes better. The unit printed plain text at a rate of 6.4 pages per minute; graphics averaged about 2.6 ppm. Its scanning speeds were the fastest among our test group, while its copying speed was average. On plain paper, black text and copies looked just slightly fuzzy, while line art and halftones looked detailed. Flesh tones appeared artificially pink on plain paper but improved on Canon’s own photo stock.

The Pixma MP560 has better paper handling than do most units in its price class. Automatic duplexing is standard. A 150-sheet, vertical-loading slot in the back of the printer accepts media ranging from 4-by-6-inch snapshot paper to legal stock. A second, front-loading drawer holds up to 150 sheets of letter-size paper only.

Canon imageFORMULA DR-2020U Universal Workgroup Scanner

Posted by git On January - 24 - 2010

Canon introduces the new imageFORMULA DR-2020U universal scanner for workgroup document imaging and general office applications. The scanner features a 50-page Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) for batch scanning, a flatbed to accommodate unconventional-sized documents, and a dedicated business card feeder tray to handle batch business card scanning.

It can do one-pass duplex scanning at up to 20 pages / 40 images per minute (ppm/imp) in black-and-white and up to 20 ppm/imp in color. The DR-2020U has a copier-like control panel and three pre-defined Scan-To-Job buttons for Copy, File and E-mail functions.

The DR-2020U includes ISIS/TWAIN drivers and is compatible with solutions from Accusoft Pegasus, Computhink, Datacap, Digitech Systems, DocuLex and Therefore Corporation.

Canon Color ImageCLASS MF-8350Cdn

Posted by git On January - 12 - 2010

The Canon Color ImageClass MF8350Cdn color laser multifunction printer offers a tempting purchase price and some good features. Like most low-cost machines we’ve tested, however, it has trade-offs–including pricey black toner and uneven photo quality.

Paper handling is a strong suit. Automatic duplexing comes standard; even the higher-ranked Brother MFC-9450CDN lacks that feature. The automatic document feeder and multipurpose tray (MPT) both take up to 50 sheets, and the main tray takes up to 250. Legal paper causes the main tray to jut out the front; Canon provides a partial dust cover. The 125-sheet output tray lurks, cavelike and dark, below the scanning unit.

The machine’s control panel could be better designed. The primary function buttons, such as Copy, Fax, and Scan, are easy to locate above the five-line monochrome LCD. The secondary buttons below are all labeled, but they look similar–and there are a lot of them. More grouping and color-coding would make things easier to find.
