Apple iMac summer 2010

Posted by git On July - 19 - 2010

Apple has elected to keep its iMac firmly grounded as a productivity device. Here you’ll find few home entertainment conveniences in Apple’s new iMac, and you can find larger screens in other all-in-ones for less. Few will offer performance like this iMac, though, and none looks as pretty, which makes it easy to recommend for general-purpose computing and for the design conscious.

Apple 32GB iPhone 4

Posted by git On June - 4 - 2010

The iPhone 4 isn’t just about cosmetic enhancements. Like its predecessor, the iPhone 4 has a 3.5-inch display. But the new phone’s screen doubles the resolution to a 960-by-640-pixel IPS display. At 326 pixels per inch, this is the highest resolution available on a phone to date. That display truly makes a difference. However the iPhone 3GS’s text–in the menus, in apps, or on Web pages–appears thick, fuzzy, and undefined, the iPhone 4′s text is razor sharp, even when enlarged (as we tried doing when viewing a PDF).The new “Retina display“–so named because it surpasses the number of pixels that the human retina can process–also greatly improves the sharpness, clarity, and visible detail of images. The real value of the new display will become evident for people who spend time reading on the iPhone 4. The iPhone 4 uses Apple’s A4 CPU, the same processor powering the Apple iPadAs part of iOS 4, the iPhone 4 gains a bevy of capabilities. You quickly double-tap on the home button to pull up a pane that shows which apps are open. From there, you can swipe horizontally through the apps that the iPhone 4 has retained in either a running or suspended state. The iPhone 4 brings much-desired camera and video recording advances, as well. The primary camera on the back bumps up from 3 megapixels to 5 megapixels, while retaining the same pixel size (which can further improve image quality). The camera also gains an LED flash, a backlit sensor, and an integrated 5X zoom. The camera now lets you shoot in high-def, at 720p, 30 frames per second; in addition, video gains the tap-to-focus feature already available on the still camera.

Verizon Prepping the iPad

Posted by git On January - 28 - 2010

Verizon Wireless is in talks with Apple to distribute a “media pad” device that would let users listen to music, view photos, watch high-definition videos and make calls over a Wi-Fi connection.Cupertino, Calif.-based Apple’s new device is similar to Amazon’s Kindle electronic reader, but smaller in size with a larger touch screen.

Earlier this month, the Basking Ridge, N.J.-based carrier said it was looking at entering the electronic-book market, possibly focusing on areas Amazon’s Kindle neglects, such as college textbooks.

Discussions between the two companies have reached back a half-year.

Verizon is also in talks to bring the iPhone to its upcoming fourth-generation, or 4G, network.

Until now, AT&T has been the exclusive U.S. carrier of Apple’s iPhone. The company has said it is in talks with Apple to extend the partnership through 2011.

Phone carriers are increasingly looking at deals to supply wireless Internet access to new gadgets which represent revenue growth opportunities.

Verizon and AT&T have said they plan to sell netbooks — smaller scaled-down versions of laptops.

T-Mobile said it will link its wireless network to utility “smart meters”.

Sprint is in talks with consumer gadget makers such as Garmin, SanDisk and Eastman Kodak about delivering wireless Internet service for their products.

Apple upgrades iMac and Mac mini desktop range

iMac and Mac mini desktop range are the latest updates from Apple. A 24-inch iMac and a Mac mini come with graphics performance that has no rival in the market. The 24-inch iMac has an integrated 30 percent larger display. Its memory storage capacity is twice as much. Priced reasonably at just $1,499, the upgraded version of Mac mini brags of surp-assing its competitors in the quality, on the other hand. It claims to offer five times higher graphics performance with the NVIDIA GeForce 9400M. Powered by Mac OS X Read the rest of this entry »
