Toshiba Launches 512GB Solid State Drive

Toshiba has upped the ante in SSD storage capacity by declaring the expansion of its line up of NAND-flash-based solid state drives (SSD) with the industry’s first 2.5-inch 512GB SSD and a wide range of fast read/write SSDs founded on 43 nanometer Multi-Level Cell NAND. The latest drives, as claimed by the company, are capable of offering a high level of endurance and performance for use in notebook PCs, gaming and home entertainment systems, and is scheduled to be shown during International CES 2009 in Las Vegas, from January 8 to 11, 2009.

Toshiba, IBM, AMD Develop World’s Smallest FinFET SRAM Cell

Toshiba, AMD and IBM have together developed the world’s smallest functional SRAM cell, which uses FinFETs (fin-shaped Field Effect Transistors) The Static Random Access Memory (SRAM) cell consists of an area of just 0.128 square micrometers (?m2). Built with a high-k/metal gate (HKMG) material, the SRAM cell claims to provide advantages over planar-FET cells for upcoming technology generations.
